The underground train again/El subte otra vez

Last year, I posted "The underground train" , in which I talked about all those different people one can see when travelling in the underground. It was a nice post, one that made me feel well.
But today, after not having taken the train for such a long time because of my summer holidays, and now that I am back to work, I suddenly remembered the other type of people one can see. These are the ones that cause me fear as well as anger. They are known in our country as the "Piqueteros", poor, jobless people who are herded around by others who organize them to go and complain about everything and anything.
I am not against people complaining to teh government when things are not working well, or when changes are needed. But I cannot stand it when these people are given the train I am supposed to be travelling to work and without paying for their ticket. I hate it when they walk along the station as if the owned the pace, with their faces covered and carrying long poles. Doesn´t that show that their intention is to be aggressive and create trouble? Aren´t these movilizations supposed to be peaceful? It is impossible with people with covered faces and armed for a fight.
And that scares me to death, and it also makes me angry because of the impotence it causes in me and in everyone.
Today, after several months, I met them again. And here I am, writing while I am still trembling.

no será mucho ???!!!!

muchachos. AFLOJEN!!

besos Jean

Hey Jean. I currently live in a small town but I understand how you can feel in the trains. It is interesting how our experiences can impact how we view things. I don't understand the trains you are talking but I used to be more scared of the homeless on my trips to DC or San Fran...after a week trip serving them, I have more compassion. I am still cautious, but it has been good for me to recognize they are people with stories and lots of pain.

I also wanted to let you know that I am re-starting to enter the world of blogging again. I took a bit of a vacation, but I think I can be consistent again.

Have a great one!

Besos! =)

Hey Cupcake!!! So nice to hear from you again!! I will be visiting you soon! =)

Beso!!

Hi Dear Jeannie :)
This really must be a strange experience, and must be very unnerving too!
I feel very uncomfortable as well in these kinds of situations and my sensitive side always detects the feeling of danger, a terrible feeling that I am in the company of or am about to be in a bad situation...
They should have security there to tell them to get rid of the sticks at least! Very threatening!
Muchos Besos and see you around!!

Jean dijo...

Dearest Donnie, My sensitive side does too, and that is because the fear and impotence lasts so much longer. And I agree that they should be allowed to protest, but should also be made to leave the sticks behind as well as not having their faces covered... that is intimidating in itself, even if they were unarmed.
Muchos besos, My dearest friend!

® ♫ The Brit ♪ ® dijo...

I agree totally Dear Jeannie :)
having those sticks and covering their faces only gives people the message that they are there to intimidate, and surely that must be their "strategy"

Maybe some people should get a petition opened there in BA to try to clean up the underground of these threatening characters! I'm sure hundreds if not thousands of people would sign it - hell, I'll sign it from here!!
Muchos Besos!!

Jean dijo...

Know why these people are allowed to travel for free? Because they say they are jobless... and it is also a question of politics mingling with desperation... of politicians using these people for their own purposes... and then, the owners of the undergrounds do not want to have "problems" on their trains.... and a petition cannot be signed, as that would be seen as discrimination. can you believe it? well, that is the way it is! Muchos besos!

® ♫ The Brit ♪ ® dijo...

Uhhh! typical!
Politicians making it look like they are doind some good once again instead of lining their pockets with money!
So imagine if a group of people WITH JOBS did the same thing... went on the underground with their faces covered and with large threatening sticks... I'm sure that the security of the underground would throw them out in a second... also discrimination.
The thing with this type of discrimination is that it is only one-sided, only on the side of these jobless people that are obviously doing wrong.
Regretable!
Muchos Besos Dear Jeannie :)

Jean dijo...

Donnie... discrimination is always one-sided... haven't you ever wondered to what extent those who feel discriminated actually make themsleves be discriminated, because they themselves do not accpet what or who they are? Discrimination is certainly a very difficult issue! Muchos besos!!
