Blogs

In the past few months, I have started reading many blogs. I have made it a routine to read them all once or twice a day, in search of new posts. But I do not always write a comment, as I do not believe in commenting just for the sake of it. In my opinion, we must write a comment when we feel that there is something useful to say, either positive or negative as both as useful. Otherwise, better remain quiet or simply leave a short note with a kiss. But not pretend we have read the post and write nonsense. I am sure that nobody would feel offended if one of our usual visitors does not leave a comment when there is nothing to say (as we might not have felt interested in what was posted, right?)

Likewise, I have also been wondering why we bloggers write our blogs. I have noticed that there are some who write bearing in mind what others would like to read about. Others, write about whatever they feel like, not caring whether others are interested in what they have to say or not. And there are others who include all their vanity and madness in their posts. In my personal case, I must admit that I write what I feel like writing, though I sometimes keep quiet in some topics, as I do not want anyone to feel offended nor hurt.

True that my blog is mine, and I can do with it whatever I feel like doing. But my blog is also what it is thanks to all the people who take the time to read what I have to say, and it is great to see that they are more every day . And their comments are what make me want to write more and more every time, those comments are what allow me to open up a little more and share myself with all those strangers out there, some of whom I have become very close to. And though I might sound vain, having you commenting to my posts makes me happy, because I have come across blogs in which NO comments are written... and believe me... it is so sad!!!

"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort."
Herm Albright

WOW!!! And this is SO true! I know that being positive has made me gain a few enemies, people who look and listen at me, or who read what I write, and mock me, because they CAN'T understand it!!! It's way too difficult and complicated for them to be able to give it meaning. And I love it!!! =)

Y me encanta!!! =)

Because I liked it/ Porque me gustó

This is Yngwie Malmsteen, playing "Icarus Dream Fanfare" with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. And because I liked it so much, I am posting it. No other reason.

"Forgetting you"... A Poem.

This is a poem I wrote almost two years ago... it was a real long time ago, but it expressed how I felt at a time when the man I had began trusting so much had suddenly disappeared, and I felt lost and didn't know what to do.
And it is always like this... you come and go... and then you appear, and it all starts over again...
You ask me to forget you,

As if it were so simple.

To get rid of all the love I feel for you,

As if it were a t-shirt I should take off.

You tell me to forget you,

As if it were so simple.

To forget everything we've been through.

Because forgetting you, my love,

Is more difficult than finding the sun shining in the night,

Or finding a thin woman in a Botero...

Asking me to forget you is like believing

That memory is like a tape that can be erased.

And forgetting you is remembering that it is impossible

To forget how much I love you.

Because the more I try

The more I remember you.

The harder I try not to remember you,

The more I become obsessed with sweet memories of you.

And I want to forget you,

So I can get on with my life,

As I am sick of dreaming with the possibility

That maybe one day, by mistake or curiosity,

You might ask about me.

But forgetting you is neither easy nor simple,

As, how do I ask my brain to order my heart

To forget all the feelings I have for you?

How can I leave the past behind...

If I still love you?

Online relationships/ Relaciones online

I have been wondering about how we get to meet people in the world today... and how much things have changed to what they used to be some years ago. I know that I sound old just by saying this, but I have realized that there are many people worth keeping as close friends, as well as lots I cannot bear to think as part of my closest circle!!!

The Internet lends itself for such a variety of characters and personalities. People can disguise their real "self" by inventing a new personality, a different physical appearance, other likes and dislikes... they can build up a whole new person, and at one point even believe that they are this new "them".

I have met all sorts of people here: I have fallen in love (not until we met personally, naturally, and saw each other so many times!), I have met some very dear friends (whom I have also met personally, and we can count on each other always!), some others whom I still haven't had the chance to meet but who are held dear to me after endless online chats and emails, sharing our daily life and experience, and our not meeting personally has to do with our living on different extremes of the planet.

... and there are the others: the ones who believe they own the world and thus anyone who gets in touch with them, those insecure and obssessive people who have invented a new character in their make-believe life, which is nothing but a bag full fo lies. These are the most difficult to tell apart, as they seem to have this bright intelligence that allows them to offer exactly what the person on the other side of the line is expecting to find.

I guess that the Internet has opened a new possibility of meeting people which otherwise, due to our hectic lives, it would be impossible to do. Many of them I have become acquainted with as I used to so many decades ago when I had penfriends all over the world. Many others have turned out to be nothing more than scumbags, but that chance also existed when we used to meet people personally. And so many others have become dear to me, we keep in touch on a daily basis, just as I would with my friends when technology was still so far away from our lives.

This does not mean that I do not interact personally on a daliy basis with people!!! It is just another way in which I build relationships in my life.
But still, I defend Internet relationships! I do not believe that they are all invented nor lies... I am a firm believer that there are piles of people worth meeting on the other side of the line.

Today the girls and I woke up early. Yes... they did not sleep till any later than they usually do, so I could not sleep in today.

I had hockey practice at the club... and after tonight's thunderstorm, I was quite positive that it would keep on raining and everything would be under water. But to my surprise it was not so.

So... off we went to the club at around 10 in the morning... beautiful sunny summer day... 32 degrees Celsius!! Who could have believed it after SUCH a storm??? I certainly could not! Not a single cloud in the sky!

I had hockey practice under the baking sun... two hours and a little more of it... and arrived home VERY sunburnt (would purple describe it better?) and I am now running a temperature.

I went to the doctor... "Sunstroke, dear. You have a high temperature, so take this every 6 hours, and rest... stay in bed for the following couple days". HA, as easy as that!

I cannot believe it!!!!!!
But this will not make my Easter holiday less fun... I have plans...

Tengo planes...

Wednesday at last!/Miércoles por fin!

Wednesday at last! Last day of the working week and then 5 days of holidays... Easter holiday... to enjoy at home, sleep in late (if the girls allow it), go to hockey practice, play with the girls, go out together, not worry about what I will wear nor how I look, get ready for the Easter egg hunt in the garden, time to think!!!! NOOOO! No more thinking please!

NOOOO! No más tiempo para pensar por favor!

One of those days/Uno de esos días

Too many things going on at the same time, too much to think about... and it all adds up as well as substracting... adds up to more problems and substracts tranquility and calm, as I cannot come up with good solutions to anything. No more to say.

People III/Personas III

Sometimes we believe that we know the people in our lives... that we know them so well that we can tell when they are joking or saying something seriously, when they need our company and when to be left alone.

I have always boasted about being a person who can tell what others are like, whether they are lying or being honest. But life teaches me a new lesson everyday.

I thought I knew you... I thought I could tell that you really loved me, that you were solving a few issues in your life, but that you would be here for good.

But I was SO mistaken! We are not dearest friends, as you said we were. We are not accomplices in this journey through life, where one can depend on the other. We are nothing of the sort. Just two people who, although they knew each other quite well not so long ago, are becoming strangers with the passing of time, who do not trust their successes and failures to each other as they used to, who have way too many secrets which are not being shared. Maybe because a thrid party suggested it should be so?

And you know what? That is NOT what describes my best friends. That is NOT how those I love behave with me.

I have never failed you... or could you name just ONCE when I was not there to see you through, to hold your hand and help you through the hard times? We have spent long hours, into the middle of the night and early morning hours, speaking on the phone, with me talking soothing words to calm you down; long hours connected in a way that no other one has. And can you say I have not been there for you each and every time? No, of course you can't!

You say one thing one day, and the following you are distant and cold. You have lost your sense of humour... you are no longer you (or maybe you are! Maybe this is you, the one who loves playing with other people's feelings and only looks for his own benefit)
In spite of what others say, people DO change. You have changed.

Vos cambiaste.

Damn it!!/La puta madre!!

The psychologist at Sol's school has just phoned me. She said that Sol had gone to talk to her yesterday, saying she was very worried about her dad. Sol told her how she had seen her father making a "cigarette" when she had been with him in February, that she was worried about him, because he is asthmathic and he cannot smoke. But things got worse when she went on to describing what this "joint" was like, the colour of it and how her father smoked it, openly saying that she was afraid he was making drugs!
The school psychologist told Sol that she would be talking to me, as I needed to know it, and that she would be telling me to speak to her father. But she also said that she promised Sol her dad would not be angry at her and at her concern for him.
So, I have just phoned him, and he said it was impossible, that he did nothing of the sort when he was with the girls. We had a long and easygoing chat. And I made it clear that he can do whatever he wants with his life, but that he was to do NOTHING when he was with his daughters, as Sol is the type to watch, see and listen to everything around her.
Now I am so angry at him, that I feel like taking it all to a judge and make him pay for everything he is doing badly! Damn him!!!!
But I know that this is not the time, as it is one of the reasons why Sol did not talk about it with me: because she doesn't want me to take any legal steps against her father, plus she has this thing of being afraid her dad will get angry at her if she tells me what they do when they are together. So then, I will just have to stay put on this one now?

But being a Piscean.../Pero ser Pisciana...

But, as Veroka wanted to know, I also investigated a little into the negative personality traits of Pisceans, as we are not as perfect as was depicted in my previous post.

As a Piscean, I tend to be unrealistic, melancholic and emotionally restrained (in spite of how emotional I am, I find it very hard to express what I feel, as I do not like quarrelling and thus avoid saying when I do not agree with something or someone). I am also very stubborn, as I completely and wholly engage in a chosen path, to the exclusion of everything else. This obsessive compulsive energy can be healthy and not.

Being so idealistic, no matter how often I might be led astray by empty promises, I keep the faith and push on toward my personal ideal. Translation: never mind how much someone hurts me, when I am truly in love, I forgive over and over again and always believe all their promises (as I do not lie, and thus cannot understand those who do).

I am a very fearful person, in spite of how decided I might seem at all times. And one of the worst traits is that when I am sad, when I get the blues, I REALLY get the blues! It is said that when Pisceans feel rejected, we tend to feel extremely sad, as we have a propensity towards depression and restlessness when not feeling fulfilled.

So... quite a lot of negative traits as well, right?

I am a Piscean/ Soy Pisciana

Many people do not believe in this stuff about horoscopes. But throughout the years I have come to realize that in many aspects I am soooooooo much of a Piscean!
I have often wondered to what extent the day and year we are born in can have an effect on the way we are. And I have usually arrived to the conclusion that, in spite of the education we might get when we are growing up, the moon and the sun DO have a certain influence on our personality. Otherwise, why would none of my siblings (two bothers and two sisters) be like me or me like them? We were all brought up the same way, with the same chances and teachings, school and possibility of practising sports, etc.

So... why are we so different? My conclusion: we were born under different sun signs!

And what am I like? Basically, I am a dreamer, a sensitive person in extreme, trustworthy, naive and of a very creative nature. I do not like to be in centrestage, but feel great being on backstage even though the ideas and plans brought forth were all mine. I am friendly, good natured, kind and compassionate, sensitive to the feelings of those around me, and respond with the sympathy and tact to any suffering I encounter. I am of an easygoing, affectionate, submissive nature, and I usually worry more about trying to help other people solve their problems than trying to solve my own.
But I have difficulty speaking up when there is something I don't like and speaking to those who harm me, because I do not like hurting others.

I could go on and on forever, and I am by no means trying to "sell" myself!! But this pretty much describes me.

Positive Quote of the day/ Pensamiento positivo del día

"I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances".
Martha Washington (1732 – 1802)
This quote is specially for those who seem not to understand that positive thinking DOES bring good results, that in spite of how hard life might seem, it is worth giving it a try and finding ways to pull through difficulties. But it is specially for those who have made comments full of bullshit after I have commented in a blog, because they are so full of themselves that they cannot see further than the tip of their noses, because they do not know how to, and their miserable lives are all a consequence of their actions and thoughts. You are so full of bullshit! And I will not be different because you cannot understand positive thinking. I really pity you!

The underground train again/El subte otra vez

Last year, I posted "The underground train" , in which I talked about all those different people one can see when travelling in the underground. It was a nice post, one that made me feel well.
But today, after not having taken the train for such a long time because of my summer holidays, and now that I am back to work, I suddenly remembered the other type of people one can see. These are the ones that cause me fear as well as anger. They are known in our country as the "Piqueteros", poor, jobless people who are herded around by others who organize them to go and complain about everything and anything.
I am not against people complaining to teh government when things are not working well, or when changes are needed. But I cannot stand it when these people are given the train I am supposed to be travelling to work and without paying for their ticket. I hate it when they walk along the station as if the owned the pace, with their faces covered and carrying long poles. Doesn´t that show that their intention is to be aggressive and create trouble? Aren´t these movilizations supposed to be peaceful? It is impossible with people with covered faces and armed for a fight.
And that scares me to death, and it also makes me angry because of the impotence it causes in me and in everyone.
Today, after several months, I met them again. And here I am, writing while I am still trembling.

How the hell...?/¿Cómo carajo ...?

How the hell do I make ends meet? The school fee has increased, everything is more and more expensive by the day... and my salary is still the same!
More books being asked for from school, more activities that the girls want to do after school hours, even though they leave at 7 am and don't get back till 5.30 pm.
And now that I have to start giving private lessons next week (just three times a week, because the girls say they need me at home with them!), the babysitter who looked after them until last year while I was still working said she might not be able to look after them this year, as she is having a job interview today.
How the hell will I manage??? I need to give those lessons!!!

Back to school/ Vuelta al cole

I know that almost every blogger who lives in Argentina and is a parent will have written a post on this topic. So that I already know I will not be at all innovative today.
Still, it was great to see the girls' happiness when we home this morning at 7.20 am for their first day at school this year. Naturally, Sophie was much happier than Sol, as she is in preschool, this is the first year that she is going to kindergarten all day long (she only used to go in the afternoons) and is now the oldest at school! She and her friends are the big boys and girls, and that makes them feel so important!!!!
The moment they met in the playground they could not stop laughing and running around, expressing all their happiness at being together again.
Now Sol was a different story. Though she was happy to be back, she also would have preferred to stay at home, as she loves sleeping late, and hates having to get up at 6 am everyday. And this year, she is in 5th grade/form, she knows that there will be a lot of work to do... it is the first year that she has many different teachers for different subjects, both in Spanish and in English.
And she was soooo angry when she got home today at 5.30 pm and said she already had homework to do! How could they be so mean? When would she have time to play, ride her bike, go to hockey practice, and to acting and singing lessons?(Actually, the list was much longer: maths teacher, therapy, cooking lessons, dancing lessons, and piles of other things she wants to do!)
In spite of this, both my angels are extremely happy to be back at school. And so am I... working is healthy and I enjoy it a lot!

People II/ Personas II

Last year, I wrote a post on the different types of people one meets along the way in this long path we all travel along called life. Well, as of late, I have started wondering still more what type of people I run into. I mean, being such a sensitive person, it is not the first time that I unconsciously perceive when someone is in need and automatically am at that person's side. Now, the point is... to what extent am I some Mother Theresa, always there to help the needy? Why is it that, so many times, people come into my life ONLY when they are in despair, extremely sad, or badly in need of a helping hand, an ear to listen to them or a good strong shoulder where they can lean on?
I have never once minded helping those who have seeked for my help. Quite the opposite, it makes me feel alive to be of use to others. But of late I feel that more than being of use I am being used, by some who ONLY get in touch when they are lonely, afraid, or badly in need of me... people who seem to disappear from my life once they have pulled through their difficulties, never to return unless they are in trouble again or needing to ask for favours. And some others come, let out all their rage and bad temper on me... and out they go.
So I have started wondering... who is to blame here? Or better said, who is acting with the wrong attitude? The one who is seeking for help, comforting and loving words; or ME, who still keeps taking them back, believing in their every love word and then left alone, feeling lonely as usual?
I guess it is time I should start looking into what I am doing wrong here... and thus prevent the hurting that comes when helping those desperate enough to look for my help (otherwise I guess they would turn up at someone else's doorstep or arms, which they naturally do) as well as to try to avoid the feeling of pain and loneliness that is left once they walk out my life again.
